Hikes Point Optimist Club was formed in 1956 and for over 50 Years, we have provided sports programs that have helped shape the future of our youth. We conduct Babe Ruth youth baseball, softball and football programs at the Louisville owned Des Pres Park as well as basketball at the Armstrong basketball complex with the co-operation of the city of Jeffersontown, Kentucky. Our sports programs have a positive impact on over 1200 kids annually in the Hikes Point, Jeffersontown, Buechel, Lyndon and Fern Creek areas.

Hikes Point Optimist Club is a volunteer organization that provides more than just sports. We have provided close to one-half million dollars in college scholarships on a competitive basis to our youth. We give proudly to the Childhood Cancer Campaign sponsored by Optimist International. But the main thing we provide is a safe place for our area youth to come and play sports, have a good time and enjoy being kids.

We are able to offer these programs through volunteers, donations, sponsorships, fees, concessions and private donations from our corporate sponsors. We are chartered though Optimist International and the Babe Ruth Baseball League.

Mission/Vision Statement
By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids.

The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself-

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
